In fact, 25 million workers reported spending at least 49 hours a week at work, (Schabner, 2013).Breakdown Deborah Tannen in her essay “Sex Lies and Conversation” points out the problems in communication between genders. She focuses on conversational styles and on how a person’s expectations of one’s reaction may cause misunderstanding.Communication skills are the ability to know the behaviour, personality of others and also how to handle others in the workplace. Communication skills are the most important skills that employees are finding. It plays a prominent role for the employees as they can get success by new ideas and information.
Communication Barriers - Reasons for Communication Breakdown Communication is a process beginning with a sender who encodes the message and passes it through some channel to the receiver who decodes the message. Communication is fruitful if and only if the messages sent by the sender is interpreted with same meaning by the receiver.Workplace communication is definitely affected by the infrastructure of the organization, but this is not the only parameter. The second section of this paper -the literature review- relates to the workplace communication with emphasis in informal communication network within the organization.
Communication breakdown in a business can lead to frustration, loss of productivity and strained employee relations. Failing to address a problem in communication with employees can cause the situation to deteriorate even further.
