Swartland is a large wine-producing area 65 kilometers (40 miles) north of Cape Town in the Western Cape of South Africa. Traditionally a wheat-producing region, it now specializes in making rich, fruit-driven wines particularly from the Shiraz, Chenin Blanc and Pinotage grape varieties.Chenin Blanc International Congress The first-ever congress brought together the two largest Chenin regions in the world, South Africa and the Loire and was held at the Jean Monnier Congress Centre in Angers from 1 to 3 July 2019.This is a medium-bodied white blend made primarily from South Africa’s classic white variety, Chenin Blanc. Chenin Blanc is known for its generosity of fruit and friendliness towards most foods. This wine shows typical Chenin Blanc aromas of pineapple, litchi and guava. A few months of lees contact enhances the texture.

Since 2010 the Institute for Wine Biotechnology and the Sensory Research Unit of the Department of Food Science, Stellenbosch University, in collaboration with the Chenin blanc Association (CBA) of South Africa, joined forces with ongoing research projects on SA Chenin Blanc wine.
